UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - With three straight conference wins under its belt, the University of Richmond women's lacrosse team returns to First Market Stadium on Sunday for its final contest of the season. Prior to the game, scheduled to begin at noon, the Spiders will recognize their three seniors before their last home match.
Richmond (5-7, 3-2) is coming off last weekend's wins over nationally-ranked Temple and Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia. The Spiders' win over Temple marked the first time that Richmond had defeated the Owls.
Junior Caroline McGuire and senior Kristen Habicht led the Spiders in scoring with 28 and 24 goals, respectively. Junior Jackie Swansburg, this week's Atlantic 10 co-Player of the Week, ranks third in the conference in save percentage (.494) against league competition.
La Salle (9-6, 2-2) defeated Saint Joseph's on Thursday night and with the win, guaranteed the program's first winning season. Freshman Emily Bonczek paces the team with 47 goals.
The teams have met three times in the past and Richmond has won all three contests.
