Boncher Swims Final Meet At U.S. Championship Trials

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Richmond junior Brooke Boncher completed her competition at the U.S. World Championship Trials this morning with a 57.35 in the 100 freestyle. Boncher's performance was 29th overall and did not qualify her for tonight's finals.
Earlier this season, Boncher established a school record with a 49.79 (short-course yards) in the 100 free at the Terrapin Cup. She swam a 49.82 (short-course yards) in the event at the NCAA Championships on March 19.
Today completed a rewarding week at the U.S. Championships for the West Newbury, Mass., native. Boncher finished seventh in the 50 free finals on Sunday and third in the bonus finals of the 100 fly last Friday. She will now wait to see if she is selected for the World University Games.
Selections for the U.S. World Championships team and U.S. World University Games team will be made at the conclusion of the Championship Trials. Should Brooke qualify for the World Championships she will compete at the event beginning July 17, 2005 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. If she does not qualify for the World Championships she will still be able to qualify for the World University Games which will begin Aug. 11, 2005, in Izmir, Turkey.
