Women's Tennis Falls To #13 North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The 13th-ranked North Carolina women's tennis team swept Atlantic 10 Champion Richmond 4-0 in the NCAA Tournament first round on Friday afternoon at the Cope-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill.
After securing the doubles point with a win at No. 1 and No. 3, North Carolina (21-9) earned wins at #6, #5 and #4 singles.
Spider junior Meghan Wolfgram won the most points in the first set, falling 6-3 in her No. 4 singles match. When she dropped the second set 6-3, it clinched the match for the Tar Heels.
Senior Lindsay Cox battled to a 3-3 tie in her second set at the top singles position before the match was halted.
The Spiders concluded the 2005 season with a 14-10 record. Richmond has competed in the NCAA Tournament three times in the past four years.
