Women's Tennis Receives A-10 Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond senior Lindsay Cox was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Most Outstanding Performer as announced today by the league. Senior Courtney Klein, junior Robin Carter were all honored to the All-Conference team and Mark Wesselink was selected as the Coach of Year. The awards were voted upon by the conference's head coaches following the Atlantic 10 Championship.
Cox (Finchampstead, England) played at the first position in both singles and doubles and helped lead the Spiders to their second straight Atlantic 10 title. She posted an overall mark of 17-4 at top singles and compiled a 19-4 mark at top doubles. She ended the conference championships with a 5-0 mark, winning two singles and three doubles matches. The two-time Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week paired with Wolfgram for doubles play and during the season, the pair ranked as high as 40th in the nation. This is Cox's second All-Conference recognition as she was previously named to the 2002 team.
Klein (East Amherst, N.Y.) played #3 singles for the Spiders this year and recorded an overall mark of 11-10. She teamed with Carter at #2 doubles and they posted a 12-9 mark. At the conference championships, Klein earned a perfect 4-0 record with two singles and two doubles wins.
Wolfgram (Granite Bay, Calif.) posted a 17-5 mark at #4 singles this year and was 21-3 in doubles action. She did not lose a match at the league tournament, finishing 3-0 in both singles and doubles action.
Carter (Mendham, N.J.) played in the second spot for both singles and doubles, compiling a 12-8 and a 12-9 record, respectively. She completed three matches at the conference championships and won all three.
Wesselink earned his third A-10 Coach of the Year award after leading the Spiders to their third conference title in the past four seasons.
In addition, Cox was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team in a vote by the league's sports information directors. The psychology major holds a 3.64 cumulative GPA.
