
Women's Lacrosse Learns Fate in NCAA Championships

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's lacrosse team earned the program's first-ever invitation to the NCAA Championships after capturing the Atlantic 10 title and will face second-seed Duke on Thursday in Durham, N.C. The Spiders (9-7) are one of 16 teams competing for the national championship.
Richmond received the conference's automatic berth after winning its first league title last night at UR Stadium. The fourth-seeded Spiders knocked off top-seeded Temple 11-10 in the semi-finals on Friday evening and then held off Duquesne 10-8 last night.
Duke (15-3) won it first-ever ACC Championship this season with a 9-6 win over defending national champion Virginia in the conference finals.
The Spiders and Blue Devils played earlier this season in Durham with Duke claiming an 18-6 win.
