UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond women's lacrosse assistant coach Amy Altig was one of 28 players recently selected to represent the United States on the 2005-2006 U.S. Women's Lacrosse Developmental Team. The roster was selected by the US Lacrosse National Teams Selection Committee, chaired by Barb Jordan, and the team is led by Richmond head coach Sue Murphy.
Altig is one of 10 players on the roster who competed on the 2004-05 Developmental Team.
The Developmental Team will participate in a clinic at the 2005 IFWLA World Cup on Saturday, June 25, prior to the U.S. game against Canada. Additionally, the team will compete in exhibition games throughout the 2005-2006 year.
The Developmental Team is an integral part of the US National Team Program. The mission of the program is to identify and develop talent in preparation for international competition at the senior level, and to represent the mission of US Lacrosse through the exposure of the women's national teams. The Developmental squad is selected annually, in June, by an impressive committee of current and former college coaches.
