Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney
On The Game
"This was a great win for us. Charlotte is a national program that's been extremely successful, and they are a great team on the road (coming off six-straight wins). I thought we played great offensively in the first half. We struggled at the beginning of the second half, but even when we were struggling, they weren't able to go on a run. That's been the key to why we've been surviving some of the droughts we've had. I thought our effort was very good and, like I said, it was a very good win for us."
On Richmond's Defense
"I feel very comfortable with Kevin or Gaston playing defense on the perimeter. We do have guys of similar size, and we had a little trouble adjusting to it, but now, we are pretty good at it. Our defense was terrific and has been the key to why we have been doing okay."
On The Princeton Offense
"I'd prefer it was about Pete Thomas, Kevin Steenberge, and (Jermaine) Bucknor. They don't play at Princeton. It's the Richmond offense. Those guys are the ones running it and playing it very well."
On Richmond's Record
"We've done some damage. It's important and exciting as we enter into February. We've come a long way as a team since September 1, but there is certainly room for improvement."
Richmond Junior Guard Peter Thomas
On The Full Court Pressure
"We've seen it all year and, for the most part, we've handled it well. We use five players to bring the ball up the court, and it really makes things easier for the guards."
On The Standings
"We are 4-2 and at the top of the conference. We don't really look at that, our main focus is to get better every day and do what we do. We figure our record will work itself at."
On Jermaine Bucknor
"Bucknor is phenomenal. Big players make big plays. We just run our offense, and he always seems to make those big shots."
Charlotte Head Coach Bobby Lutz:
On The Game
"Richmond played very well and obviously deserved to win. Our guys played hard, but didn't play as well as we'd like in terms of turnovers. I give Richmond credit for their defense. They did a good job of mixing it up, switching and not switching. We struggled a bit to take full advantage of that."
On Its First Month In The Atlantic 10
"It's everything that I expected it to be. The A-10 is a really good league with good traditions and good fans everywhere we go. There really is a balance in the league. I truly believe that we could beat just about anyone in the league and that we could lose to anyone in the league."
Explanation For How Richmond Is Getting It Done
"Bucknor is one of the best players that we've played against all year. Steenberge is a very solid big guy. And Richmond's style of play is very good. They are no fun to play against. You have to respect it. They do a great job at both ends, not just the offensive end and not just the defensive end. It's their entire style of play. They are very good at it, very smart, and very well-coached. They put five out there that play very well together.
Charlotte Senior Guard Mitchell Baldwin
On Playing Against Richmond's Defense
"It was very frustrating. We tried to simulate it all week. We had five or six days to simulate it the best we could. We wanted to try to speed them up on the full court and be solid on the half court since they're not a team to really turn the ball over. They are going to run it down to the last few seconds and they are usually going to get what shot they want. Their guards were very big and it was very difficult to see the passing lanes and get it inside or even to hit open shooters. Their match-up zone is very effective. They do an excellent job at doing what they do."
