Van Alstine Wins Fourth Atlantic 10 Rookie Of Week Honor

Richmond freshman Amy Van Alstine was named Atlantic 10 Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week for the fourth time in as many collegiate races after finishing second at the Winthrop Fall Classic on Saturday.

Van Alstine helped the Spiders cap an undefeated regular season as she led the team with a runner-up finish out of 87 runners.

The Midland Park, N.J. native ran a time of 14:25 on the 4K course. It was the second time this season she has led the Spiders.

Richmond posted the team victory with 24 points and placed all seven runners in the top 13.

The Spiders finished the regular season a perfect 4-0 and will compete in the 2006 Atlantic 10 Championship on Oct. 28 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
