
No. 17 Field Hockey Ends Roadtrip In Philadelphia

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The 17th-ranked Richmond Spiders field hockey team will end its current four-game roadtrip this weekend with a trip to Philadelphia, Pa., to face Temple and St. Joseph's beginning Friday, Oct. 20. Richmond will take on the Owls at 3 p.m. in Philadelphia, then face the Hawks, Sunday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m.
The Spiders have not lost an Atlantic 10 regular-season contest since 2001, and will be looking to extend a 37-game win streak against all A-10 opponents. Richmond also has a current win streak of six games dating back to Sept. 30 versus Radford.
Junior Shannon Taylor ranks among the Top-5 nationally with a goal-per-game average of 1.47. The Midlothian, Va., native also has a point-per-game average of 3.40 which is fourth-best in all of Division I field hockey.
Freshman Lindsey Conrad, who has won or shared Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors for the last three weeks, ranks second in the conference behind Taylor in points with 29. The Wilkes Barre, Pa., native also is second on the squad with 12 goals, after scoring two in the Spiders' most recent win at UMass.
Richmond is a perfect 10-0 against the Owls in the all-time series which dates back to 1998. The Spiders have outscored Temple 28-6 in the 10 games, and currently own a three-game shutout streak against the Owls.
Richmond is 9-4 all-time against the Hawks, and have won the last six games against St. Joseph's. The Spiders are also 5-3 all-time against the Hawks in Philadelphia and have outscored St. Joseph's 39-16 in the series which dates back to 1986.
Following this weekend's games the Spiders will come home for their final regular-season game of the year. Prior to the noon game against Saint Louis, Oct. 29, Richmond field hockey will honor its two seniors, Jodi Murphy and Heather Wrublesky.
