UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Freshman Lindsey Conrad netted a hat trick while sophomore Becca Weaver and freshman Jacki Raithel garnered a team shutout to help the Spiders top Saint Louis Sunday, 5-0. Richmond jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first half over SLU thanks to two goals from Conrad, the reigning four-time A-10 Rookie of the Week. Junior Shannon Taylor used an assist from Conrad to net one of Richmond's four first-half goals. Taylor also logged an assist on senior Heather Wrublesky's goal in the first half.
The Spiders outshot the Billikens 16-3 in the first half and 15-7 in the second half. Saint Louis' Amy Wasserman stopped 11 Richmond shots on the game, including six in the second half.
Richmond netted just one goal in the second half thanks to Conrad. The freshman took a pass from Wrublesky on the right and shot past Wasserman for the fifth and final goal of the game.
Weaver stopped one shot in the first 35 minutes of play, while Raithel turned away five in the second half to preserve Richmond's seventh shutout of the season.
The Spiders will remain at home this coming weekend when they host the 2006 Atlantic 10 Championships at Crenshaw Field.
