UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Freshman Lindsey Conrad was named the fifth recipient of the Woodfin Home Team Student-Athlete of the Week honor after helping the Spider field hockey squad to two-straight wins to open the Atlantic 10 Conference schedule.
Conrad notched the first hat trick of her career last Friday in the Spiders' 11-0 win over West Chester. The Wilkes-Barre, Pa., native not only scored three-goals, but chipped in two assists for an eight-point effort in the win over the Golden Rams. Two days later, the forward scored two goals and garnered one assist in Richmond's 6-0 win over La Salle.
Earlier this week, Conrad was named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Rookie of the Week for her weekend efforts, marking the second-straight week she has been awarded the honor.
Conrad currently ranks second on the team with 25 points, which also places her second in the Atlantic 10 Conference behind teammate junior Shannon Taylor. Her 10 goals on the season also place her second on the team and second in the A-10 behind Taylor. Her 1.92 average in points per game are second-best in the league and rank 28th in the country.
The Spiders, who have now won four-straight, hit the road for four-straight conference games beginning this weekend. Friday, Oct. 13, Richmond will be in Kingston, R.I., to face the Rhode Island Rams at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, the Spiders will make the trek to Amherst, Mass., to face the UMass Minutewomen at noon.
