Taylor And Conrad Sweep Weekly Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Honors Again

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Junior Shannon Taylor and freshman Lindsey Conrad swept weekly Atlantic 10 Field Hockey awards for the second-straight week, conference officials announced Monday. Taylor has now won Performer of the Week honors three-straight weeks and four times this season, while Conrad earned her second Rookie of the Week honor this season.
Taylor, a native of Midlothian, Va., totalled 10 points as the Spiders opened Atlantic 10 play with a mark of 2-0 over the weekend. She notched two goals in each of the Spiders' wins over West Chester (11-0) and La Salle (6-0), while adding an assist in each contest as well. Taylor was responsible for the game-winner in Friday's contest, and has now scored at least one goal in the Spiders' last eight games dating back to Sept. 16. Her average of 1.53 goals per game ranks third nationally, while her 3.54 points per game also rank third-best in the country.
Conrad, who ranks second on the team with 25 total points, contributed 13 points on the weekend as the Spiders opened A-10 play with two-straight wins. The Wilkes-Barre, Pa., native recorded the first hat trick of her career Friday against West Chester, and also chipped in two assists for an eight-point effort against the Golden Rams. Two days later, Conrad notched two goals and one assist in the Spiders' 6-0 win over La Salle. Her 1.92 points per game average currently ranks 28th in the country.
The Spiders, who have now won four-straight, hit the road for four-straight conference games beginning this weekend. Friday, Oct. 13, Richmond will be in Kingston, R.I., to face the Rhode Island Rams at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, the Spiders will make the trek to Amherst, Mass., to face the UMass Minutewomen at noon.
