UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Senior Danny Desriveaux was named an ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District III selection Friday as announced by CoSIDA. The honor, the first of Desriveaux's career, advances him to the final selection process for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors.
Desriveaux, a transfer from the University of Connecticut, has played in all nine games for the Spiders in 2006. The Laval, Quebec City, Canada, native has caught at least one pass in each of the last six games and has a total of 119 yards receiving on the season. The Richmond grad-student who is working on the completion of his Master's of Business Administration, is also a starter on special teams for the Spiders.
This past summer, Desriveaux was a sixth-round selection by the Montreal Allouettes in the Canadian Football League's 2006 draft.
The 25th-ranked Spiders, 5-4 on the season and 2-4 in Atlantic 10 play, will host Towson (6-3, 3-3) in their final home game of the season at UR Stadium Saturday. Desriveaux, along with the rest of the Richmond football seniors, will be honored prior to the schedule 1 p.m. kickoff.
