Freshman Dan Geriot scored a career-high 21 points, his fourth time in double-figures in five games this season. Geriot also made a career-high nine field goals and grabbed a career-high five rebounds.
Richmond had put at least two players in double-figures for points in each game entering tonight and had put at least three players in double-figures in its three victories, but had only Dan Geriot reach double-digits against Radford.
Richmond shot 45.5 percent from the field, and has shot over 40 percent from the floor in four of the five games. The one time the Spiders have shot under 40 percent was in the loss to Old Dominion on Nov. 25 when they shot 39.6 percent.
The Spiders made under eight 3-pointers for the first time this season, connecting on just five on Wednesday night.
The Spiders did have their second-highest points in the paint total of the season, scoring 28 inside the key.
This was just the second loss to Radford in 18 meetings between the two schools and the first loss to Richmond in the Robins Center.
Radford has pulled off road upsets before, including a 62-60 win at Virginia Tech in 1999.
Richmond had eight different players score vs. Radford, but only two of them scored over five points.
Sophomore Mark McGonigal played four minutes, dishing out a career-high two assists.
