Senior Heather Wrublesky was named the Woodfin Home Team Student-Athlete of the Week after helping the 17th-ranked Spider field hockey squad to its fifth-straight Atlantic 10 Championship.
Wrublesky, a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 selection this season, scored the game-tying goal with 36 seconds remaining in regulation helping the Spiders' to a 2-1 semifinal win over Temple in overtime. The following day, Wrublesky notched the game-winner in the championship final over Saint Joseph's, 3-2, and earned the Tournament's Most Outstanding Performer honor. The Langhorne, Pa., native has scored a goal in each of Richmond's last four and has a total of 12 goals on the season.
The Spiders host Lock Haven at Crenshaw Field in one of two NCAA Play-In games, Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. The winner of Tuesday's contest will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Championships Field of 16, which begins play Saturday, Nov. 11. At-large and automatic bids into the NCAA Championships will be released during a live broadcast on CSTV at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday evening.
