No. 58 Penn Pulls Rank On Women's Tennis

RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team (1-5) was defeated by No. 58 Penn, 6-1 on Sunday morning at Virginia Commonwealth. Robin Carter came up with a victory at the No. 4 singles in the Spiders' second loss in two days.
The No. 58 Quakers took a hard fought 8-6 win at the decisive No. 1 doubles spot after losing at No. 3 and winning at No. 2. Beatrice Grasu and Carter had lost the No. 2 match, 8-5, while Pamela Duran and Ashlee Vosters ran off the last five games to win at No. 3, 8-4.
The Quakers then hammered out a tight win at the top singles spot and used that momentum to swing through the #1-#3 singles matches before Carter wore down Stanislawski at No. 4, with a dominating 6-2, 4-1 (ret) victory.
Freshman Xenia Schneider played a solid match for Richmond at No. 5, but came up short, 6-3, 2-6, (10-2). Richmond plays again tomorrow at 11am at the VCU Tennis Bubble against Brown.
