Richmond Coach Chris Mooney
Having A Six-Point Lead Midway Through The First Half
"I thought we were moving around, getting good looks and scoring some baskets. We were in decent shape, we were playing fairly well, but then a couple of key things went their way, a few transition baskets helped them get going. Then we couldn't score."
On Struggling Offensively
"It's hard for us to score the ball. No matter what we try to, whether its with the ball on the low post or on the perimeter, it becomes difficult for us to score and if we can't score then it's hard for us to stop any runs by the other team. We rely so much on trying to stop them and stop them and stop them. It's difficult."
On The Lacking Of Scoring Effecting The Defense
"It kind of translates when you're able to score it sometimes helps your defense, you're able to get back and feel more confident, and play better defensively. We weren't able to keep that up, but I think a big part of that is being able to score."
On The Dwayne Lee 3-Pointer At The Start Of The Second Half
"That was a big play because it was down at the end of the shot clock and we're all over him and he kind of found a little bit of space to squeeze one off and it went in as the shot clock buzzer sounded. That's difficult to take, but those things happen more and more on the road and you have to able to respond to that. And respond is a general phrase and really that means you need to score yourself. You have to put yourself in the best position possible with your movement, knowledge and effort. You have to put yourself in a position to score and we just don't do that enough."
On Returning Home After Playing 6-of-8 On The Road
"We need to go back and we need to come out ready to play with some pride and competiiveness. We have two kind of winnable games at home and we have to be ready to play. We have shot a lot better at home, so hopefully that will help."
On Rebuilding The Program
"You want to improve the program so much it's hardly recognizable to people who are around the program now. There are 1-million things you need to improve such as how you practice, how you play, how you approach going on the road, how the players treat each other. All of these things need to be improved upon and while we have made a lot of strides in a lot of those areas, obviously we have a long way to go."
