Emily Bateman Named To Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Academic All-Conference Squad

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Junior Emily Bateman was named to the 2006 Atlantic 10 Conference Swimming & Diving Academic All-Conference team, officials announced Tuesday. Bateman is joined by two student-athletes from both Duquesne and Saint Louis as well as one each from St. Bonaventure, Fordham, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and George Washington.
Bateman, a native of Somers Point, N.J., recorded the Spiders' top 100 free time this season to place third at the A-10 Championships in 52.63. The sprint free specialist earned First Team All-Conference honors in the 800 free and 400 medley relays this year at the Atlantic 10 Championships. The accounting major was also a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honoree in the 200 free and 400 free relays.
Bateman's name appears three times on Richmond's all-time Top-10 lists. She ranks ninth in both the 50 free (24.21) and the 200 free (1:52.86). The junior was also part of the Spiders' record-breaking 200 medley relay squad in 2005, with a time of 1:43.90.
Bateman is a 2005 Chi Alpha Sigma member, a group which is comprised of junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.40 GPA or better.
