UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The five-time defending Atlantic 10 Champion Richmond field hockey team will go for its 45th-straight win against A-10 opponents on Friday when the Spiders host West Chester at 3:30 p.m. at Crenshaw Field.
Richmond won its first two Atlantic 10 games last weekend in Philadelphia, defeating preseason favorite Temple 2-1 and downing Saint Joseph's 3-2. Sophomore Adrian Pickar is the reigning Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Player of the Week after scoring three goals in the two games last weekend.
West Chester comes to Richmond with a 3-9 overall record and an 0-2 mark in conference play.
"Going into another A-10 weekend presents challenge and opportunity for us," Richmond first-year head coach Gina Lucido said. "Conference play is unpredictable and passionate, and this team will need to fight as a united front in order to take the next step in being at the top of the conference.
The Spiders will also host La Salle on Sunday at noon at Crenshaw Field.
"I think West Chester and LaSalle will bring the best of their team style and put our on-field chemistry to the test," Lucido said. "I love that we have to earn every bit of our success this season, as it keeps all of us humble and in the present moment."
