UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Second Annual Ryan Jobes 5K will be held December 22 in Williamstown, W.Va. in memory of the Spiders' former track & field and cross country runner. Jobes was a standout citizen and student-athlete for the Spiders and Williamstown High School.
Ryan was tragically killed in a car accident on his way home from school for the Holiday Season, December 20, 2005.
All runners and walkers are welcome and encouraged to participate. One-hundred percent of the entry donations go directly to the "Ryan Jobes Scholarship Fund" and all donations are tax deductible.
Even if you can't make it to the race all donations are welcome.
The Ryan Jobes Scholarship Fund has been set up by Ryan's family in West Virginia and each year the scholarship fund awards $1000 to a deserving senior at Williamstown H.S. to assist with his or her college education. The scholarship is based on athletics achievement and citizenship.
The 5K race course will start and finish at Williamstown H.S. with loops around the town on flat, paved roads. The first place overall male and female finisher, along with the first place finisher in the following age groups (17 & under, 18-24, 25-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60& over) will be recognized with special awards.
