Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney
On Facing William & Mary's Zone
"They're zone makes you be patient and makes you work the ball around, so you have a tendency when you are young to think that's not being aggressive when in fact there is a way to be aggressive while attacking the zone."
On Richmond Freshmen Kevin Anderson, Justin Harper And Kevin Smith
"Those guys are good players. We're fortunate to have them on board. We think they're going to have great careers here. The earlier they can help us the better off we will be and they played terrific tonight. They made big plays and really helped us throughout. You have confidence in good players and with those guys, the only experience they can get is on the floor. So to have them in there is great and they were able to make plays while they were in there."
On Playing Close Games
"We've had many close games and hard fought games. I hope we are learning whether we win or lose. I think we are, but again, we're likely to have more close games than not because that seems to be the way we are and probably our youth contributes to that."
On Rebounding From The Marist Game
"We wanted to be aggressive throughout. Basketball is a game of runs and the younger you are the less control you have of those runs. We just talked about being aggressive."
Richmond's David Gonzalvez
On The Game
"I've been struggling the past couple of games, I've been thinking too much about my shot. I had a long talk with coach after the Marist game. He just told me to go out there and play, and relax, and have fun. So I just took that and ran with it."
On Pulling Out The Win
"I think we did a good job today, just making sure that we cherished every possession at the end."
On Facing William & Mary's Zone
"Their zone is pretty tough and if you're not aggressive they can kind of stunt you and everybody can get lax and just keep passing the ball around. That's a credit to their defense, but luckily we busted it open at the end."
Richmond's Justin Harper
On David Gonzalvez
"David went off tonight. He was feeling it. He was able to knock down some big shots."
On Richmond's Second-Half Struggles
"We've got to work on that, as far as starting off hard in the second half. We've got to get our offense flowing smoothly. We usually have a good first half, but we just got to be able to maintain it for 40 minutes."
On The Freshmen Contributing
"Me, Kevin Smith and Kevin Anderson have to be ready to come in off the bench and provide good energy for the rest of our team. Without that you know we can't finish the game off when we need to.
On What Richmond Does To Close Out Games
"A lot of times that we win our games, it's in the last five minutes when we can make a stop here or there or make a hustle play."
On The Experience The Spiders Are Getting In Close Games
"With us playing so many close games, we're gaining knowledge in how to make better decisions in the last three minutes of games and that's really crucial to us."
