The Spiders won their eighth-straight season opener, improving to 3-0 under head coach Chris Mooney. Richmond has won 11 of the last 13 season openers.
Richmond forced 29 turnovers, the most turnovers a Spider team has forced in over eight years.
Richmond had 13 steals, tying the most steals in a game for the Spiders during head coach Chris Mooney's tenure. Thirteen steals is the most for a Richmond team since Feb. 21, 2004 when the Spiders had 14 steals against La Salle.
Richmond held Maine to 42 points, marking the 13th time in 61 games under head coach Chris Mooney that the Spiders have held a team to 50 points or less. The Spiders have held teams to 60 points or less 20 times under Mooney and have only allowed over 70 points 12 times in 61 games.
The Spiders did not have a freshmen in the starting lineup for the first time since the final game of the 2005-06 season, March 8, 2006 vs. Fordham in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
Richmond had six blocks, which ties the season high for 2006-07.
Richmond plays No. 3 ranked Memphis on Tuesday. It will be the Spiders first meeting with a ranked opponent since Feb. 18, 2006 when Richmond faced No. 10 George Washington. The Spiders last victory over a ranked opponent came on Jan. 22, 2004 when Richmond took down No. 10 ranked Kansas 69-68 at Phog Allen Fieldhouse.

Sophomore David Gonzalvez scored in double-figures for the 13th time in his career with a team-high 15 points on Monday. Gonzalvez made three 3-pointers, marking the fourth time in his career he has made at least three treys. Gonzalvez has made multiple 3-pointers in eight games in his career, including his last four. He has made a 3-pointer in five consecutive games and has 11 trifectas in his last four games.
Freshman Kevin Anderson dished out four assists and had three steals in 25 minutes.
Junior Jarhon Giddings tied a career high with three blocks. Giddings also had three blocks in the win over Seton Hall on Dec. 1, 2005.
