UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
Homecoming weekend was a perfect setting for the women's lacrosse team to hold celebratory activities for alumni, players, families and friends. The weekend started off Saturday morning for a brunch that included the distribution of 2007 championship rings. To end the fun-filled weekend, lacrosse alumni hit First Market Stadium to take on the current Spiders.
Brunch was filled with lots of eating and reminiscing. Head coach Sue Murphy honored the 2006-07 team with rings for winning the A-10 championships for the third year in a row. Seven of the nine 2007 graduates were there to receive their rings and to catch up with old friends.
Sunday was the first time the alumni got to face off against the current roster since the fall of 2003. After a hard fought game, the Spiders were victorious over the previous players, 9-8.
While the Richmond lacrosse team is in its off-season, the team is working hard conditioning and weight training. They are looking forward to picking back up full-time in the spring.
