UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Johanna McKnight led the Spiders with 23 points, while Christina Campion both earned double-figures scoring 14 and 10 points respectively. Richmond outscored Albany 73-62 to earn their sixth win of the season and third straight W at the Robins Center. Albany's Britney McGee led the Great Danes with 19 points on the night.
McKnight has now led the Spiders in six of their first 11 games of the 2007-08 season. She shot 8-13 from the floor and 4-6 from the three-point line in the eleven point victory against Albany (1-10). Richmond (6-5) shot 47.3% overall and 50% from behind the arc.
The Spiders got off to a slow start in the first half, leading 35-34 at halftime, but were able to turn it around to get the win. Richmond scored 38 to their 28 points in the second half to give Albany their tenth loss of the season.
"I didn't think we were executing," head coach Michael Shafer said. "On offense we weren't getting it done and we couldn't get a rebound on defense."
Redshirt senior Christina Campion led the Spiders with seven rebounds and added 10 points. Freshman Danielle Bell also got on the board scoring a season-high nine points.
Up next, the Spider will return to the court after the holiday at the Terrapin Classic host by the University of Maryland. First up, Richmond takes on UMBC December 28 at 1 p.m. ET then will see fourth ranked Maryland December 29 for a 2 p.m. ET start.
