Beaudreau and Witt Set To Represent Richmond Swimming In NCAA Championships

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond sophomore Lauren Beaudreau and junior Jessica Witt will each take part in the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships to be held March 8-10 in the University Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn. This is the second-straight year that the duo has represented Richmond in the Championships.
The two invitations mark the fourth-straight year at least one Spider swimmer has earned a spot in the NCAA Championships, as well as the third time in the last four seasons that two Richmond swimmers will be part of the NCAA Championships competition.
Each of the two swimmers will take part in one swim on the first two days of competition and Beaudreau, a native of Lafayette, Calif., will also compete in the Championship's final day on Saturday.
Witt, a native of Fullerton, Calif., will compete in the 500 free and Beaudreau will take part in the 200 IM Thursday, March 8.
The following day, Friday, March 11, Witt will take part in the 400 IM, while Beaudreau competes in the 100 breast. Witt's 400 IM time of 4:17.07 established at the Atlantic 10 Championships, ranks 27th going into the event. Beaudreau ranked 16th on the NCAA's official psyche sheet in the 100 breast with a school and A-10 record-breaking time of 1:01.81.
In the Championships' final day, Saturday, March 10, Beaudreau will compete in the 200 breast, which she logged a school and A-10 shattering 2:14.87, ranking her 29th on the NCAA's official psyche sheet.
Beaudreau, the 2007 Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Performer, broke two all-time Richmond records this season, including the 100 breast and 200 breast, and is the current all-time leader in the 200 IM. Witt set a new all-time mark in the 500 free (4:52.16) this season and is the current all-time leader in the 400 IM.
