Richmond Football Hosts Annual Spring Game Saturday at First Market Stadium

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - With back-to-back winning seasons under its belt, the University of Richmond football team will take part in the Annual Spring Game on Saturday at First Market Stadium on campus. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. and admission is free. Concessions will be available, along with 2007 Football Schedule Cards and season ticket information.
All Richmond students in attendance will have the chance to win airline tickets compliments of JetBlue, concert tickets to see The Fray and a variety of other prizes. In addition, the ESPN Radio 950 van will be on hand with free giveaways. Gates open at 1:30 p.m.
Fourth-year head coach Dave Clawson is looking to guide the Spiders to a third-straight winning season for the first time in more than 50 years. Richmond will benefit from the return of 230 of its 272 points scored last year (.846), 3,244 of 3,860 total yards (.840) and 3,636 of 4,600 all purpose yards (.788). Every player who rushed for a touchdown in 2006 returns next season, along with 12 of 17 passing TD's and 11 of 17 receiving TD's.

Nearly 3,000 people watched Richmond's Spring Game last season at First Market Stadium.
The 125th season of Richmond Football begins at Vanderbilt on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007. It marks the third straight season and sixth time in seven years that the Spiders open against a Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly known as Division-IA) opponent. Last season, Richmond defeated Duke, 13-0.
Richmond's home-opener at UR Stadium is set for Saturday, Sept. 29 versus Colonials Athletic Association-rival, New Hampshire, at 3 p.m.
