Former Spider Standout Nuzzi Named Lacrosse Assistant

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Former Spider lacrosse standout Allison Nuzzi has joined the Richmond women's lacrosse coach staff as an assistant as announced today by head coach Sue Murphy.
A four-year starter and two-time captain for the Spiders, Nuzzi concluded her decorated career ranked second in Richmond's all-time record book for assists (63). She also dished out the second and third-most assists in a season (25 in 2004 and 26 in 2006) and was named to the 2006 A-10 Championship team.
"I'm extremely thrilled to bring Allison Nuzzi on staff as a former two-time captain and member of a squad that captured the program's first two A-10 Championships," stated Murphy. "Alli was a part of building Richmond lacrosse from ground zero to dominating the A-10 and being nationally-ranked."
Known as a "creator," Nuzzi contributed 32 career goals from the midfield, in addition to her 63 assists, and ranked 13th in the nation for assists her sophomore season.
The Baltimore, Md. native earned All-American second team honors, as well as All-Baltimore City/County honors for two years straight while at Notre Dame Prep.
"Working with Alli as a player, I have always felt she possessed strong qualities to become a coach," said Murphy. "I'm looking forward to having Alli help Richmond take the next step in maintaining our success in the A-10 and furthering our national ranking."
