UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - On the heels of her fourth-place finish at Saturday's Navy Invitational, senior Kylee Schuler was named the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Performer of the Week. The Chambersburg, Pa. native led the Spiders to a second place overall.
Schuler's fourth-place showing was tops among a pack of Spider runners in the top 10. Her time of 22:16 on the 6K United States Naval Academy Cross Country Course was the seventh-fastest in the course's history. Sophomore Amy Val Alstine took fifth (22:23) and freshman Nicol Traynor (22:40) took sixth.
"It was a very good time for Kylee," said women's head coach Lori Taylor. "This was a tougher course than we have run in the past."
The senior has been impressive in both meets this season. Two weeks prior, Schuler broke the Spider Alumni Open meet record, leading the women to the season-opening win.
Richmond, which stays No. 1 in the A-10 Women's Cross Country Coaches' Poll, has a week off and returns to action Sept. 29 at the William & Mary Interregional.
