
Duran And Tidwell Advance To Finals At Deacon Classic

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Richmond junior Pamela Duran and freshman Kelly Tidwell advanced to the finals of their respective flights on Saturday at the Deacon Classic hosted by Wake Forest.Duran, who won her opening match at flight one singles 6-3, 6-2 over Davidson's Kelsey Linville, took down Dartmouth's Molly Scott in the second round. She will face Wake Forest's Sasha Kulikova on Sunday in the flight one championship at 9 a.m.
Tidwell, a 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 winner in flight three over Davidson's Teresea Wang on Friday, dispatched Indiana's Lindsey Stuckney in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Tidwell will play Wake Forest's Emilee Malvehy at 9 a.m. for the flight three title.
Duran and junior Ashlee Vosters lost their second-round match 8-5, but came back to win 8-2 in the consolation bracket and will be playing for fifth place at noon on Sunday.
Vosters was a 6-3, 6-0 winner in a consolation match and will play at 9 a.m. Sunday against Charlotte's Yudeshnee Pillay.
