COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Richmond swimming team dropped a 150-121 decision to the University of Maryland in dual meet action Saturday afternoon in College Park. Freshman Nicole LePere won the 200 back, setting a lifetime best with her first collegiate gold medal.
LePere paced the field in the 200 back with a time of 2:05.66. The freshman continues the Spiders dominance in that event in the Atlantic 10. Currently Richmond owns the top four times in the 200 back, with LePere's time ranking fourth.
Coming off their week-long training trip to Florida, three other Spiders won events in the meet. Jessica Witt took gold in the 1,000 free (10:19.73), while Lauren Beaudreau won the 200 breast (2:24.63) and Katie Sieben captured the 100 fly (57.12).
Richmond now turns it focus to the team's only home meet of the season set for Sunday, January 27 versus William & Mary. The Senior Day meet begins at 1 p.m. at the Robins Center Natatorium.
