Anderson Named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie Of The Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond freshman Kevin Anderson was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week after averaging 13 points, five rebounds and 3.5 assists as the Spiders split two games last week.
Anderson scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds, while dishing out three assists in the Spiders' victory over St. Bonaventure on Wednesday. He had six points and four assists without a turnover against La Salle on Saturday.
The freshman from Duluth, Ga. is third on the team in scoring at 9.1 points per game and is second on the team in assists (2.76 pg). He leads the Spiders and is fourth in the Atlantic 10 in steals, averaging 1.82 per game. The former standout at Peachtree Ridge High is eighth in the Atlantic 10 in minutes played, averaging 33.53 per contest.
Anderson is the second Richmond freshman to earn Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week this season, joining Kevin Smith. Richmond has had four different players earn A-10 Rookie of the Week honors over the past two seasons, including the team's top two leading scorers, sophomores Dan Geriot and David Gonzalvez.
Richmond, which receives 82 percent of its scoring from freshmen and sophomores, is 9-8 overall and 2-2 in the Atlantic 10. The Spiders return to action on Saturday when they host nationally ranked Dayton at 7 p.m.
