Quick Slants:
No. 9 Richmond is back at UR Stadium Saturday afternoon, hosting Georgetown on Homecoming Weekend in the Spiders' final non-conference game of the season.
The Spiders are ranked ninth in the Sports Network poll this week, marking the 13th-consecutive week that Richmond has appeared in the nation's Top-10 -- the third-longest active streak in the FCS.
On the heels of the Spiders' 30-15 win at then-No. 10 UMass last week, senior TB Josh Vaughan was tabbed the CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week, while sophomore Justin Rogers garnered Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Over the last three games, Vaughan is averaging 124 yards rushing (including a career-high 156 at UMass) and has scored six TDs.
Richmond's two FCS losses this season are by a total of 13 points to teams currently ranked No. 1 (JMU) and No. 7 (Villanova).
Junior QB Eric Ward is among the most efficient passers in the FCS and has gone six-consecutive games (132-straight pass attempts) without an interception.
Richmond downed Villanova on Homecoming last season and has won two of its last three, six of eight and nine of 13 on HC.
Although the Georgetown rivalry dates back to 1894, the teams have not met since 1935.
The 2008 season marks the 126th season of football at Richmond and is the 40th Anniversary of the 1968 team that finished 8-3 and won the Tangerine Bowl.
