UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond freshman Katelin Peterson was named Atlantic 10 Player and Rookie of the Week after scoring a school-record four goals in the Spiders' 5-1 victory over West Chester on Sunday.
Peterson scored the four goals in 10:06 of game action to lead the Spiders to their fifth-straight victory. The freshman from Escondido, Calif. is now tied for the team lead in goals with 10 and points with 24.
This is the fourth time a Spider has earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, including the second-straight week. Junior Megan Thompson received the honor last week after scoring five goals in three games, including three game-winning goals.
While Peterson receives her first Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honor, it is the fourth time this season she has been named the conference's Rookie of the Week.
Richmond has won five-straight games to improve to 8-9 overall and 4-1 in the Atlantic 10. The Spiders clinched the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, to be held Nov. 7-8 at Temple.
The Spiders have two regular-season games remaining this weekend, playing at Saint Louis on Saturday and facing Ohio in a neutral site game in St. Louis on Sunday.
