University of Richmond, Va. -
Senior Jessie Wolfe's second straight two-goal game led Richmond (8-2-1) over Rhode Island (4-7-1), 2-0 Friday night at First Market Stadium. With the win, the Spiders secured their fifth win in six attempts. The victory elevated Richmond's home record to a perfect 6-0.
The Spiders first goal came at the 18th minute, when senior Sarah Hilt touch passed to Wolfe, who placed the ball in the right corner of the goal past Rams keeper Jackie Fede. Hilt's assists count moves to five, a career high.
"Wolfe is a massive presence on the field," head coach Peter Albright said. "She's learned to effect the game in a lot of different ways. She's building so much confidence with her shots."
Wolfe scored again at the 78:05 mark from a cross pass from junior Nora Mann.
Richmond's defense maintained the tempo for the majority of the second half, only allowing Rhode Island four shots.
"Carter Blair has gotten better every game," said Albright. "She is bullet-proof. She really stepped up for us tonight."
Richmond returns to action Sunday afternoon when Massachusetts visits First Market Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
Live coverage, including game tracker and video streaming on SpiderTV, will be available for the game.
