UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond sophomore Dani Pycroft was named Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Player of the Week and freshman Katelin Peterson was named the conference's Rookie of the Week, marking the second-straight week and the third time this season that the Spiders have swept the conference weekly awards.
Pycroft becomes the fifth different Spider to earn Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors this fall. The Harare, Zimbabwe native scored three goals in two games, including a two-goal performance in Richmond's 9-0 win over Saint Louis on Saturday. Pycroft is third on the team in goals and fourth in points. She has scored four goals in the last three games.
Peterson, who was named Atlantic 10 Player and Rookie of the Week last Monday, scored two goals and had an assist in Richmond's 9-0 win over Saint Louis on Saturday. This was Peterson's fifth Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honor. She has six goals and one assist in the last three games, including a school-record tying four goals in a win over West Chester.
Richmond's 9-0 win over Saint Louis tied for third on the school's all-time list for most goals in a game. The Spiders had their six-game winning streak snapped on Sunday with a 3-1 loss to Ohio.
The Spiders finished the regular season at 9-10 overall and 5-1 in the Atlantic 10, finishing in second place in the conference. This was the sixth time in the last nine years that Richmond has finished in the top-2 in the league.
