UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Sophomore Justin Harper scored 18 points, making 7-of-9 shots and 3-of-4 three-pointers to lead the Richmond men's basketball team to a 79-57 win over Bucknell on Monday night in the Robins Center.

Richmond continued its hot shooting, connecting on 49.2 percent from the field, including 8-of-21 from behind the three-point arc. Richmond out-rebounded the Bison 36-34 and had a season-low nine turnovers, while swiping 10 steals.
Richmond trailed 16-6 early after Bucknell came out on fire and the Spiders made just three of their first 12 field goal attempts.
The Spiders started making shots and went on a 21-5 run to take a 27-21 lead. Richmond took a 29-23 advantage into the half and pulled away midway through the second half, leading by as many as 24 in the final three minutes.
"Our focus was good, we missed shots early, but we didn't get down on ourselves," Richmond head coach Chris Mooney said. "We counted on our defense. That's what we need to do, rely on our defense as our anchor."
Bucknell made six of its first 11 field goals over the opening 10:20 of the game, but Richmond's defense would hold the Bison to 3-of-14 shooting the rest of the half.
Bryan Cohen and G.W. Boone led the Bison with 14 points and Patrick Behan had 12.
Richmond (6-5) returns to action on Sunday at UNC-Wilmington at 5:30 p.m. in a game televised on MASN.
