Coaches Vote Richmond To Finish No. 1, Again

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Atlantic 10 coaches have chosen the Spiders to repeat as champions in 2008. Richmond is coming off its third straight A-10 championship title, its second straight A-10 regular season title and its third straight NCAA tournament appearance. The Spiders are returning 14 players in 2008 including two-time IWLCA All-American, junior Mandy Friend. Friend was the A-10's second leading scorer in 2007.
The Spiders captured their third straight title in Philadelphia, Pa. last May with a win over George Washigton, 15-7. Richmond won its second straight regular season championship with a 6-1 A-10 record in 2007.
Lacrosse Magazine has tabbed Richmond at No. 20 in its preseason polls. The Spiders open up 2008 play with an exhibition game against the England National Team at First Market Stadium, February 11 at 3 p.m. ET.
