Spiders Host First A-10 Opponent Friday At 1 p.m. ET

Due to expected inclement weather Friday's lacrosse game has been moved from 7:30 p.m. ET to 1:00 p.m. ET at UR Stadium.
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond women's lacrosse team will host Massachusetts Friday, March 28 at UR Stadium at 1 p.m. ET. The Spiders have yet to see an Atlantic 10 opponent in 2008; Friday's game will also be the first conference game for the Minutewomen. Both UMass and Richmond are 2-7 on the season heading into the game.
The Spiders and the Minutewomen played just one common opponent this season. UMass hosted then-No. 3 Maryland, February 23, where the Terps walked away with a 18-7 victory. Richmond travelled to College Park, March 12 to take on the then-No. 2 Terps where the Spiders lost a 17-9 decision.
Last April, the Spiders travelled north to Amherst where the faced off against the Minutewomen in snowy conditions but left with a 10-4 victory. Now-junior Allison Furstenburg recorded her eighth hat trick of the 2007 season to lead the Spiders.
Furstenburg is second on the team in scoring this season, recording 25 goals and 16 assists for a total of 41 points. Mandy Friend paces Richmond so far in 2008 with 26 goals and 17 assists for 43 points.
Last week the Spiders dropped their seventh contest of the season to Towson. The Tigers beat Richmond on its home turf 17-12. Friend led the Spiders with five goals and an assist while Furstenburg recorded two goals and two assists in the game.
UMass is also coming off a loss coming earlier this week against New Hampshire. The Minutewomen dropped to the sixteenth ranked UNH 10-6. Stephanie Hopkins scored two goals to lead UMass in the loss. Kaytlin McCormick has 18 goals on the season so far to lead the Minutewomen.
The Spiders will continue A-10 competition over the weekend as they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on La Salle Sunday, March 30 at 3 p.m. ET.
