UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond women's tennis team fell to No. 40 Louisville, 5-1. Pamela Duran, the Spiders number one contender, earned a win in singles action for Richmond's lone point in the match. Duran took down Louisville's Jones, 3-6, 7-5 (10-8).
"Duran played another smart, gutsy match defeating Jones," head coach Mark Wesselink commented. "She always brings everything she has to the match, her opponents know right away that any match against her will not be easy."
Duran teamed up with Ashlee Vosters in doubles play in Richmond's no. 1 position. The duo fought hard but fell in a close match to Louisville's Baez/Gorba duo, 8-7 (5). Louisville took home wins in all three doubles matches.
The Spiders' no. 2 player, Erin Clark won one set, 6-2, fell in the next, 2-6, then was tied, 4-4, with her opponent Imre before not finishing the match.
"Erin Clark continues to develop using a variety of shots," Wesselink said. "She is able to exploit her opponent's weaknesses by changing up her shots."
Richmond hits the road Wednesday, April 9 to take on William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. for a 3 p.m. ET match.
