Spiders Shut Out UMBC, 2-0

The Spiders (4-1-1) used strong offensive play to hold the UMBC Retrievers (1-5-0) scoreless Friday afternoon in Baltimore.
The Spiders struck early when junior Nora Mann scored in the 21st minute off a Kelsey Rdzanek assist. Mann dribbled around the defender, and sunk the ball in the right corner of the goal from 18 yards out.
"We had a strong offensive performance from everywhere," head coach Nora Mann was the offensive player of the match."
The Spiders secured the win with a Jessie Knight goal in the 66th minute of play. Knight's header was a corner kick assisted by junior Jen Ruhe.
The Spiders dominated the shot category, outshooting the Retrievers 22-5. In her freshman debut, goal keeper Melissa Pacheco recorded three saves.
The Spiders return to First Market Stadium, where they will host American University. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
