UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Senior Sarah Schrott was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week and freshman Katelin Peterson earned conference Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.
Schrott scored a goal and had an assist in the Spiders' 4-3 victory over William & Mary on Sunday. The senior from Lancaster, Pa. is third on the team with seven points, coming on two goals and a team-high three assists.
"This is a great honor for Sarah, she plays all her roles on the team with such dedication," Richmond head coach Gina Lucido said. "Her constant work ethic has improved her game significantly. I know she is giving her best for the team's success and we are thrilled for her."
Freshman Katelin Peterson has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week three times this month. |
Peterson also had a goal and assist on the week, scoring in the win over William & Mary and assisting on a goal by fellow freshman Grace Krafte in a 3-2 overtime loss to No. 8 James Madison on Friday. The freshman from Escondido, Calif. leads the Spiders in points (11) and goals (5). She has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week in three of the first four weeks of the season.
"Katelin Peterson continues to find a way to get the ball in the back of the net," Lucido said. "You always want a player like Katelin on your forward line. I'm not sure she really identifies with the term "rookie". I think she looks as herself as a player doing her part daily to bring about a new Spider tradition. She shines on and off the field."
The Spiders return to action on Friday at 3 p.m. at American and play at nationally ranked Maryland on Sunday at 2 p.m.
