The Spiders dropped their first conference match of the season to host Dayton Friday afternoon. The hard fought match saw 22 fouls between the two teams.
"The Spiders showed character," head coach Peter Albright said. "We fought the entire game. It was a disappointing, but hard fought loss."
Junior midfielder Mandy Back scored the lone goal of the game at the 52:11 mark, after her slot pass from the touchline sailed past freshman goal keeper Andrea Young.
"Andrea Young had a fabulous game in goal," said Albright. "She really played well."
Young continues her true freshman form by recording 10 saves in goal to Dayton's two. Richmond has only allowed two goals in its past five matches.
The Spiders return to action Sunday afternoon where they will host Xavier. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
