UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond field hockey team's home opener against No. 16 ranked Princeton has been moved from Saturday to Friday night at 5:30 p.m. due to the weather expected from tropical storm Hanna.
The Spiders (1-1) will be the 16th-ranked Tigers' first opponent of the 2008 season. Richmond split two games with Ball State and Miami of Ohio last week. The Spiders defeated Ball State 8-3 in the season opener, but lost 6-1 to Miami on Sunday.
"Last weekend was a bittersweet weekend," Richmond head coach Gina Lucido said. "We've talked about and we know that the whole season is going to be about consistency. It's been a very tough week of practice. I think at the end of the day we're really getting to the core of who we are, what believe in and where we want to go."
The Spiders, who are going for their sixth Atlantic 10 Championship in the last seven years, will host another Ivy League opponent on Sunday. Richmond hosts Columbia on Sunday at 2 p.m.
"I'm excited for these games this weekend," Lucido said. "I think we're going to see a new team out there, a team that is going to set its identity in place."
