Women's Golf In Third At Spider Fall Invitational

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - Senior Lauren Folgosa and freshman Tracy Martin are tied for 11th as the Richmond women's golf team is in third place out of 15 teams after the first round of the Spider Fall Invitational played Monday at Independence Golf Club.
Richmond freshman Caroline Lovette is in third place playing as an individual after carding a 2-over-par 74. She is two shots behind the leader Alexa Boucher of Longwood and one shot behind Maryland's Jessie Hollandsworth.
Folgosa and Martin each shot 4-over-par 76s to sit four shots off the lead. The Spiders shot a 313 on Monday on the par-72, 6,113-yard course to sit 10 shots behind second-place Maryland and 11 shots behind first-place Longwood. Richmond has a three shot lead over fourth-place Pennsylvania, while Marshall is in fifth at 317. Penn State and Old Dominion are tied for sixth at 318.
Richmond junior Jillian Fraccola is tied for 22nd at 7-over 79 and junior Christina Gray is tied for 47th with an 82. Freshman Courtney Rousse is tied for 62nd with an 84.
Playing her first collegiate round, Lovette shot an even-par 36 on the front nine and a 2-over 38 on the back to finish the day two shots off the lead.
Richmond seniors Victoria Kidder and Anne Sprick are tied for 37th with 81s and freshman Grace Kingdom is tied for 67th with an 85.
The second and final round of the 36-hole tournament will tee off Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
