Spider Cross Country Faces Stacked Field At Panorama Farms Invitational Friday

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond's cross country season rolls on Friday afternoon when the Spiders square off against a stacked field at University of Virginia's Panorama Farms Invitational.
The Richmond men, ranked seventh in the Southeast Region, are one of nine men's in action - each of which ranked in the NCAA regional polls and four are ranked 26th or better in the national polls.
Junior Tim Quinn has led the Spiders in each of the first three meets this season, winning the Spider Alumni Open, taking second at the North Carolina Challenge and finishing 29th at the Paul Short Invitational.
Four men's teams in the field - Virginia, Villanova, Texas A&M and Butler - are ranked second in their respective regions. Virginia is 15th in the national poll, along with Butler (19th), Villanova (24th) and Duke (26th).
The 10-team women's field is also loaded with national and regional powers as nine of the teams are ranked in the regional polls and four are ranked in the national rankings.
Sophomore Jenn Ennis has led Richmond in each of the first three meets, as she won the Spider Alumni Open, was second at North Carolina and 32nd at the Paul Short.
The host Cavaliers are the No. 1-ranked team in the Southeast Region and are ranked 10th in the national poll. Villanova is the No. 2 team in the country and ranked first in the Mid-Atlantic. Duke is 14th nationally and Tennessee is 41st.
