Senior QB Eric Ward
On establishing the running game in the second half:
"We just wanted to be physical up front. They came ready to play and did a great job against us in the first half. Going into halftime, that's one of the things we told ourselves is that we wanted to establish it (the running game) in the second half. The offensive line did a great job of being physical and our backs ran hard in the second half."
Richmond Head Coach Mike London
On the second-half adjustments to the defense:
"We tried to make them more one-dimensional than what we'd seen prior to that. The guys up front did a great job of shutting the run down. We wanted to make them throw the ball. Obviously there are some situations there where we didn't play the ball well."
On third downs:
"Early on in the first half they (Maine) were pretty good in third-down situations and they finished six-for-17 in third-downs. That's a pretty good day defensively on those situations. I thought the key for us was continuing the drives, particularly on third-down by keeping the ball and eating a lot of clock."
On Derek Hatcher's 90-yard punt return:
"That return by Derek Hatcher's was critical. That was one of those game-changing moments that put points on the board and help rejuvenate the offense. Those are the plays that you need to jump-start a game."
Playing on the road:
"We're a road-tested team now. We've been on the road a lot this season. We started out sluggish, but we played the way we needed to in the second half and were fortunate to beat a very good team today."
