UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The Richmond women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the Duquesne Dukes Friday night at Ukrop Park. Sophomore Liza Koch led the Spiders with three shots.
The first half was all Richmond as the Spiders kept the ball deep in Duke territory, outshooting Duquesne by a 10-3 margin.
"We completely controlled the first half," said head coach Peter Albright. "We lacked toughness in a game that required toughness. I'm disappointed with tonight's outcome."
The Dukes came out in the second half recharged, outshooting the Spiders by a 9-5 margin. Duquesne connected on the game's only goal in the 63rd minute when Stephanie Rentschler scored unassisted off a deflection at close range.
