
Field Hockey Looks To Clinch Atlantic 10 Regular-Season Crown Friday

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Atlantic 10-leading Richmond field hockey team will look to clinch its sixth conference regular-season title in the last eight years when the Spiders play at Saint Joseph's on Friday at 1 p.m.
The Spiders are 10-7 overall and a perfect 4-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference play., while Saint Joseph's is 6-8 overall and 3-1 in A-10 play.
Richmond will look to clinch the top seed in next weekend's Atlantic 10 Tournament at UMass.
The Spiders have not allowed a goal in their four conference games, out-scoring their opponents 19-0 and out-shooting them 69-12. Richmond has won 58 of the last 63 games against Atlantic 10 opponents, including a 1-0 win over No. 16 ranked UMass last Friday.
Richmond senior Sarah Blythe-Wood leads the Atlantic 10 and is 18th in the nation in goals per game (0.94). Blythe-Wood has scored 16 goals this season, which is 11th on Richmond's all-time single-season list. She is 21st in the nation and leads the A-10 in points per game (2.29), with 40 points on the season.
Senior Megan Thompson leads the Atlantic 10 in assists with nine and is 10th in the league in points. Junior Dani Pycroft is fifth in the league in goals (9) and sixth in points (22).
Blythe-Wood and Thompson are tied for seventh on Richmond's all-time goals list with 30. Thompson is eighth on the school's all-time points list with 77 and Blythe-Wood is ninth with 76. Senior Jess Weidner is tied for fourth on Richmond's all-time list for career assists with 23.
The Spiders conclude the regular season on Sunday at Temple at noon.
