Quick Slants:
No. 4 Richmond looks to do something Saturday it hasn't done in 399 days -- bounce back from a loss -- when the Spiders travel to Georgetown for a 1 p.m. ET game.
The reigning National Champions had their 17-game winning streak snapped last week with a 21-20 loss to then-No. 4 Villanova.
That winning streak was a school record, a state Division-I record, the longest winning streak in the FCS since 17-straight by App. State in 2006-07 and the seventh-longest in FCS history.
Richmond still owns the longest road win streak in the NCAA (tied with Boise State) and looks to make it 12-straight Saturday.
The Spiders have not lost back-to-back games since the 2006 season and are 3-0 following a loss under Mike London.
Although Georgetown leads the all-time series 5-2, Richmond won last season 48-0 at UR Stadium in the teams' first meeting since 1935. The Spiders have never defeated the Hoyas in D.C. (0-2).
Saturday's game marks Richmond's first game at GU since an 84-0 loss on Oct. 31, 1900 -- the worst loss in program history.
Senior QB Eric Ward became the Spiders all-time leading passer last week and now owns every major career QB record at Richmond.
Senior RB Justin Forte leads the CAA in rushing (88.3 yds/gm) and is averaging 105.5 over the last six games.
The Spiders have 13 interceptions in 2009, with 12 coming in the last five games.
With 14.0 TFL and 5.5 sacks, senior DT Martin Parker leads a Spider defense that ranks third in the nation against the run (72.0 yds/gm).
Richmond is undefeated in its last nine regular-season non-league games against FCS opponents.
Saturday's game marks the Spiders' latest regular-season non-conference tilt since Nov. 15, 1975 versus West Virginia.
Up Next:
Richmond returns home Saturday to host William & Mary for the final-ever regular season game played at UR Stadium. Kickoff in the 119th all-time meeting between the rivals is set for 12 p.m. ET on Comcast Network.
