Richmond scored a season-best 86 points in Friday's victory over Clemson. The Spiders also notched a season-high 47 points in the first half.
The Spiders also shot a season-high 60 percent from the field while dishing a season-high 23 assists.
Shells became the 17th Spider to notch 1,000 points in Richmond women's basketball history. Shells was a remarkable 8-for-12 from the field, finishing with a game-high 21 points to go along with a season-best five assists. Shells has posted four game-high performances in the Spiders' five games.
The win marked the Spiders' second-straight over an ACC opponent. Richmond previously defeated then-No. 25 Wake Forest last January.
Richmond shot a season-best 8-for-15 from long range. Senior Danielle Bell, sophomore Joyous Tharrington and Shells each recorded two three's apiece.
Nine different Spiders posted points in the scoring column. Redshirt junior Katie Holzer recorded another strong performance with 10 rebounds and four assists.
Richmond faces 1/1 Connecticut tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. Richmond is 0-1 versus the Huskies with the first and only meeting coming in 2006.
